New york city was in a panic. Nine children had disappeared in the last couple of years, with out a trace. Most were in the age range of from twelve to fourteen years old. A few may of been run aways but the majority did not seem like the kind of children to have left home never to return. So far the only link they had in common was that in several cases, a small, dark man, described as wearing, sunglasses, a scarf, and some sort of beret, had been spotted shortly before they disappared.
Finally a task force was being formed headed by detective Kevin Murphy. He was a rather large, gruff, red haired man of Irish heritige. Murhpy was the current heavy weigh boxing champion of the New york city police department. Two years ago he had killed sargent washington,a black police officer in the ring. He was not well liked in the department, especially by the blacks. They, behind his back, said he was know to use excessive force on people of color.
Murphy was rereading the missing children reports when he was handed a updated file. Near where the last child disappeared the small dark man was seen boarding a bus heading for Brooklyn. This is what murphy had been waiting for. He got into his unmarked police crusier and headed towards Brooklyn.
